Hello! A quick post to mention how awesome this event was! Harry (fiance’s code name…how suspicious…) and I went to see Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone in concert! This means they played the speech track for the movie along with the film on a movie theatre sized screen and a full orchestra accompanied the movie with the soundtrack.
It was seamless. Beautifully done. Fantastically conducted, played, and orchestrated. I cried. A lot. I didn’t think it was possible for a HP film to feel new to me after all these years and repeated (almost clinical) re-watching – but this did it. It was a level of immersion I had never even considered. We sat in the front row because I was neurotic and bought the tickets within 5 minutes of them going on sale back in March.
I didn’t think about how awesome the credits would be. That is the part of the movie when we get to hear snippets of the whole score – and the orchestra really strutted their stuff. Hats off to the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra.
Anyway, it was wonderful and if you get the chance to go to a showing of any of your favorite movies this way- you absolutely should.
Took this from our seats.
A bit of perspective on the auditorium.
A fun bit of animation they played right before some interesting interviews with John Williams.
